got some 170s, pista lh, strada rh - only noticeable difference is strada written on the back.

I think that's probably what I'm going to end up having to do. I can't afford any of the pistas I've been offered so far. ↲↲Will stradas be useable straight off with just the one chainring or do I need to file them for them to work?

the strada's will work fine
chainline will be right either on the inside or outside they look fine installed as well -

You don't have to file the inner tabs off to use them, only if you want to pretend that they are the pista version.
They do looka bit sillytotally wrong with the ring mounted on the inside though (IMO), so you may need to swap out your BB for one with a longer spindle . -

These are Stradas, most people can't tell the difference between them and pista cranks.

here are some strada's set up for fixie action it isn't even noticable
Hey, I'm after some Campagnolo Pista cranks. Preferably 170 but 165 is fine. With or without chainring.
