Aye - I think it is. I'll swing past later and check for sure, it's on a one way road that's closed at the entry end so no-one on a bike has been down it for months, and I don't walk much...

cheers man. I'm heading over to watch the Blaze play soon, so i could do with dropping into Kong. Sorry to derail the thread slightly!!

Time to update the list!
Sat about 6pm saw dude on Black frame riding slowly along Binley Rd towards town past the jet garage.

I've been at university for the last few days! It's been great! My bike saved me this morning as I woke up 15 minutes before my first lecture, haha! Yet to venture into Coventry or the surrounding areas since I've been here, probably going to go up to Down To Earth tomorrow. I'm at Westwood so I'm pretty close! The sports clubs fair is on today too and I've heard there's some other fixed gear riders at the uni, so hopefully I'll meet them today! See you around Cov ;D

I'm in Earlsdon (lifer) and work up at Warwick uni. Looking to get my first SS soon :) Got a couple of mates in Leamington who I ride with, one with a Kinesis Decade SS (he's about to go fixed for the first time this weekend, depending on LBS getting a sproket in).
I only know of one other SS rider, which is someone who works in the same building as me. Rides a Langster and an On-One SS MTB.

CaseSteve - hello you should bump into Joseph at some point I guess... how tall are you? I'm selling one (to help fund my own on-one build, tho that'll be geared)... ;)
Pistaboy - Kong is now being gutted - sign says they're still trading in the small shop next door - dunno if they're shrinking or if it's just a re-fit.

Bit of a short arse - 5'6". Looking for something via the C2W scheme from Albany Cycles at the mo :)
-
• #35
No worries, I'm a bit taller than that so bike wouldn't fit. Sure Albany will sort you out well, nice guys.
-
• #36
Yeah, Si is saying he'll "sort something out" with the price :D
Any other shops I've missed in Cov? Been to CCC a few times and they seem nice enough.

CCC is my local. Chris there says he's getting loads of different track frames / fixed builds over the next couple of months... could be worth holding out for, or just get bike #2 from them after Si cuts you a good deal for #1
Ride up on Lockhurst Lane is good too, it's run by two brothers whose family have been into cycling in Cov for generations. Paul is big into BMX and Darren more of a Roadie / Cyclo Cross racer.

Ride is a great shop, Jim sorted me out big style with my recent project.
Jim is an oldschool vert skater from back in the day and Darren is a very keen cyclist afaik.
I've know the ride skateboarding team for years they're the well known name in Coventry.
I live right on the outside of town but well up for tearing it up in the city centre, probably only 5miles or so.
We should arrange one of these "drinks" things?

Nice one, a couple of skaters / bmx'er from the team put on a show at the festival of cycling at the motor museum earlier in the year - some good stuff on a home made ramp (made by the museum - and looking for a perma-loan home if anyone can fetch it!)
One of these "drinks" things could be good. I've posted about ride planet earth on the C&W Ning forum thingy... it's not very active tho, but could be as good a time as any - 6th Dec the ride planet earth stuff is meant to go off if anyone fancies meeting in Cov to do something + riding + beers.

Thats cool about the ramp, wish I had the space, wonder if they offered it to ride?
I'm up for that on the 6th though mate, i'll have a look for the thread.

CasaSteve - what building do you work in? I'm mostly maths but occasionally venture to other buildings, haha. Who's the other person who rides a single-speed? I haven't seen anyone else or spotted another bike locked up! Mine's a bright blue one, so if you see that, it's mine (I've got pictures up on my profile if need be too).
Peace!

Joseph - you should joing the Cov group linked at the top of this thread... there's more local stuff in there including pans to rip up the streets one weekend...
36cf - yes they were offered the ramp first refusal but again nowhere to put it.

I was based in the Maths building last year but now over at westwood campus. I work for the main ITS dept (as does the other guy).
Are you studying or working at the Uni?

Will do! Riding a silver/galvanised Charge Plug freestyler around south west Coventry mostly.

Obvious - a mate texted me earlier to say he'd seen you (or a similar bike - "white fixie with purple rims and gold hubs" is how he described it) today. This was weird, as I'd just caught up on this thread and to my knowledge he doesn't read this forum. He's a triathlete who doesn't rate fixed gear bikes. I told him you've got a nice bike and he should've said hi...
If you want to diss his bike back, it's an old red specialised somethingorother racer with tiagra cranks and a stuck pedal. I'll pass any messages on. ;)
-
• #48
yeah thats the one, cant say ive seen his bike but he sounds like my grandad with all those gears
