• I didn't say landing smoothly though did I? And why can't the fixed rider land smoothly off of the set of stairs (rear wheel first etc,.)
And I stand by my comment that most fixed freestyle riders are doing no more than barspinning off a curb and the names you mention are in the minority. Clearly if you are breaking parts then you need something stronger than MTB parts.
Only pissed_up_pista can say which category he falls into and therefore which parts he needs.

I've watched a lot of bmx racing to, in fact I used to live a couple of miles from Dagenham Race Track in Essex, and used to hang out/ride with Bill Stupple who played a huge part in getting it pushed through ( a pro-racer from the andy-ruffell days of bmx).
My point being that bmx race parts are designed to be light weight, stiff and responsive, like most race bike components in any discipline, with strength coming secondary to these needs, unlike street/vert/dirt jump parts where the primary purpose is for the part not to break, Racers put a miniscule amount of stress on their bikes compared to street/park riders.
I never used race components on any of my bmxes, and I had a few over the years including my super-light bike (24lbs with only one titanium part!), if you're going to ride street and park features then you want chromoly steel on the load bearing parts wherever possible, and/or parts that are designed for the job, which is what I equipped my bike with, if you want to stick to doing barspins off of curbs then almost any bike/part will be up to the job I guess.
If you want to start doing slightly crazier shit then you need to beef the bike up as necessary, and its better to do that sooner rather than later.
