*a geared road bicycle can only be properly appreciated after learning and riding a fixed wheel bicycles.
*lol. What?
I think he means that you appreciate freewheeling and gear selection more if you have had no experience of it previously.

Nice mate. If I remember the original bike correctly, you've done some proper work there.

it's true, fixed wheel bicycles forced you to keep a good cadence throughout, teach your legs to keep pedalling at a rythm etc.
the only problem is for instance when you go downhill, you're force to spin, this is where a geared bicycle is much appericated, you're able to keep a good cadence by compensating your gearing for certain terrance.
if you watch the Tour De France, you'll notice that on the flat, up the mountain, descent, etc. the cyclists appear to have the same cadence throughout (apart from the sprint to the finish line).
I hope I explain it clearly.

I get what you mean Ed, everyone gets what you mean, but you're thoroughly mistaken if you think that riding a fixed gear first is the only way you can fully appreciate 'the joy of gears'. Yes, riding fixed helps with cadence - roadies have been training on them for years. I'm glad you're enjoying the poetry of it all, but please... no need to preach. And as for the Mercian - it won't be the first time I've ridden a geared bike since before or after the fixie fad.

@eyebrows - What cranks are you using on your build? I'm having a real tough time deciding.
ummm, White Industries ENO at the minute.
shiny shiny
if I can ever find out what BB goes in there...
i know I'll search the transmission database.I'm getting one of these beauties. Light as hell at 666g (lighter when I get my plastic belt ring on there), and with an oversized spindle for added stiffness.

Hi from Prague and Budweiss. My friend finished (graduated) my work with precission brands Scattini (porsche font) and Wilson tennis tape grip. I feel good, if I saw this foto :o))))
And coaster brake (in czech language "torpedo") - it is czech culture. Fixed is not typical, but I respect fixed!
And in Prague I saw at last 2 months 2 or 3 singlespeed bikers... Prague is in prenatal situation (Prague have hills).

Thank you for the compliment, because we re-edited the frame (cut-off puppies, colour, funny brands looks like Porsche), so do not for sell. Unfortunately, in the Czech market with track frames dont exist. I would like also bought some track frame, but I have ALAN TITANAL road frame, which is a rarity, too.
