  • oh man, that is not cool. i would be devastated. seems like you're handling it well though[t]

  • Glad you didn't crash or were injured, Loïc.

  • Oh Loïc! Quel dommage!

    Vraiment.

  • Did you take it into Holdsworth in Putney and, if so, what did they say?

Not yet... I usually don't go to that shop... They are still called Holdsworth, but would sub-contract any repair, they told me once they don't have decalls anymore, so I suspect there is no point going there...

  • I popped in there the other day on the way to somewhere, they do nothing regarding frame building/repairs etc.

They focus on selling Bianchi's now.

Nice chaps but cannot help but feel that as they own a famous name they could be doing more with it.

Yes that's my feeling too... Saying that the few time I had to deal with them, they were always nice...

Yes, I am very lucky... When I think of recent times I was spinning madly downhill!!
Which is what scares me a bit if I get it repaired, maybe I won't feel safe on that bike anymore...

  • Is that Brooks? :-D
Don't cycle like that through Brick Lane, as it can be infectious.

  • glad you didn't wee your pants.

How did this happen? Wear and tear? Should we all be afraid? You deserve that medal.

That's kind of what I expected. It's my most local LBS and useful for some bits and bobs. They do a good wheel build there too.

  • i'll take the downtube if you split...

    well done brother.

Thanks!! That "setting" was actually stiffer than what I had done in the morning, I could cycle faster...

  • Glad your ok Loic. That was your sentimental bike too, if i recall?

    Yes, very sentimental...
Look at this family picture from last winter!

This is exactly what I was asking to myself this morning, riding another vintage frame...

i'll take the downtube if you split...

    No way!! I'm framing that!

  • ooooh now that is som'tn. glad you're ok and before all, this guy deserves better! bad luck mate, scrap the ol'ladee and get yourself something nice build oop from scratch, do a deal and finance it and you'll be sorted for the nex 50 years, seriously

    ;)

... and peeps make jokes about my bike coming APART :P

  • Can;t believe I missed this thread yesterday, and I was admiring that old thing only the other night.

I reckon the noises probably were that crack appearing.

    I agree with reeen.

    Get yourself a Brian Rourke.

  • glad your safe and well buddy. £40 is a good price for that level of emotion.

  • I say repair it- this just adds to the history of the bike, from you finding it in the Market to it+scarf getting you to work after the tube broke

Just got the frame back this WE.
The repair is structural only (as I asked to Mario Vaz; brazings have not been shotblasted and this is only a quick paint coat for me to use the bike even if I won't get it properly resprayed for the moment... Actually I won't even rebuild it for a while, but most importantly it's now "healthy" again and saved from the being binned!

  • It looks good Loic. Glad to see it restored.

I like your workstand too. :-)
