Oh and smallfurry- where can i find those Soma bars on the web.
I'm miserable that there are no more O-O midge bars, really needed them.Yeah, I was gutted about the midge's being sold out. I'm probably gonna get some Nitto Randonneur's from Hub Jub, apparantly they'll be re-stocked in the next fortnight.

Although Velodrama and Hubjub stock Soma bars, might be worth contacting them. I did see some cheap copys on the Bay a while backhttp://store.somafab.com/somajunebugbar.html

http://www.hubjub.co.uk/soma/soma.htmSetting them up takes some dialling in, this is worth a read.

Love this bike, has always stuck in my mind since you first posted it in this thread.
Is there a noticable difference between using the disc brake with a 'proper' v brake lever and a cross lever?

Yes, but not a massive difference, plus the disc brake is powerfull enough as is - works much better with the BB7 than with the Shimano Deore that is in the pic
The main reason i have the Cross top is that the bars are an oversize diameter through to the grips, so a standard lever will not fit, which rather limited my choices.

Got another frame this week. (another bin day find). Frame is pretty old and has cottered cranks. Heavy too so I don't think i'll do anything with it. Had a nice old bell on it though which will polish up well with a bit of autosol I think.
The motobecane from last week is all cleaned up and nice and shiney. Will post a few pics later.

@eyebrows - What cranks are you using on your build? I'm having a real tough time deciding.

i am russell- ive just got a hinde myself. was doing to go a similar black/white component look much alike yours. still haven't decided what cranks to get or if i should save and go for carbon all round. im erring on going for bling as i already have other bikes and want this as my bike porn. this might take a while for me save however.
I'm also trying to decide whether to put a brake on the thing or not. I'm not really a skidder and i never normally ride without a brake, plus i much prefer riding with hoods on my bars. but part of me doesnt want to ruin it!

a clamp on brake will be your friend
You and I are doing similar things, with different bikes, and different hubs, and rims, and probably tyres
So actually, quite different. but similar in actuality.
yup.
useful post. My wheels are 10 or so days away. I've outsourced the building (not the Gods cogs 3flange ones- they're going on GH1. Now to decide on a bottom bracket.
Anyone know if the White Industries ENO are JIS or ISO splined?
can't find fuck all on the interweb.
