  • You can't stop it. This is isn't a new phenomenon, as it's happening through the history over and over again. Roman hipsters came here with their fancy roads, followers of Le Corbusier's ideas within the Labour government with their Multi Dwelling Units, Cypriots with their Kebabish, Poles with "Polski Sklep"...

  • yeah university challenge is on now!

  • My money's on Cambridge, Gutenplan looks clever

  • nice jumpers too

did you know that if you answer "Mick Jagger" or "Adolf Hitler" to every question, you will be correct on 3 out of 1,207 occasions?

    try it, it works!

Did you even watch it? You will have noticed the Bangladeshi guys saying there's too many curry shops and it's fucking up their own trade. Lower and lower priced curries just to stay in business is driving them out.

  • I ended up watching University Challenge after that show. Good shit

  • very interesting program!

  • I love university Challenge, i go between over excited wild guesses where i use complicated sounding words; quickly followed by claiming i didn't hear the question, to a cold blank face and pursed lips as i rock slowly on the sofa like a Romanian orphan before calling them "fking bespectacled Virgins"

my assessment was based on the introduction. Apart from emins ramblings i found it an interesting look at the social history and evolution of the area. Of course curry was also mentioned....

  • Lower and lower priced curries

Sorry this is the only bit I could understand there.

  • Breakfast curry?

thank god, the only decent curry on brick lane is the one one the corner at the very end with too bright strip lighting and bolted down tables...

JOY on broadway market kills them all...

  • Hmm I think the Fournier street lot came out of it quite badly, really. In fact that bloke Rodney (the one who candidly said that they were resented by the curry house brigade) is a lovely bloke, I used to chat to him in Pellicci's every saturday morning, he's one the regulars.

Ahhh kind of miss it now i've left!

  • Re: curry - For me the best Bangladeshi food recently round there has been at Mai'da on Bethnal Green road. Fantastic Tanddori cooks, the ovens are on show at the back of the restaurant. No alcohol served - which says a lot about the clientele.

  • Dawaat restaurant, at 60-62, offered me and three mates 40% off our meal, including drinks! Smashing food too. But yes, those twats who look like Amy Winehouse's boyfriend are ruining the area with their twatty hats and stupid trousers, they've spread out from Shoreditch, the twats.
