    theres no set distance or time for your drivetrain.

    1. "chainstretch" is the first thing you look for in a wearing drivetrain. This can be quantitatively measured with a tool. google it. Or if your have experience with this stuff, you can start to notice when your chain is getting crappy and change it before it's truly shot.

    2. a stretched chain is what wears out chainrings quickly. They will wear eventually, but if you don't maintain your chain, they can go fast. A usable chain ring has a few mm of flat plateau at the top of each tooth. These flat spaces start to shrink as a chainring wears out. That is an extreme example.
