Should I buy a Bianchi Pista?

  • how much should i be looking to pay for a bianchi pista with an upgraded sugino track crankset, new seat post and gold finger break?
guy is looking for 400? any advice. quick replies would be great so i can get my head sorted for today.
b day present to myself you see.
    cheeers,

  • Sure you don't want a nice sensible bike that takes mudguards? They're much more practical.

  • I'd pay no more than £350, even with upgraded parts. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.

  • never heard that phrase before, apparently it's quite popular.

  • You can have mine for £400, it's got better bits than that (Dura Ace stem, badly worn white tyres, etc)

  • should i get out of bed this morning

    should i brush my teeth

should i be paid for the job i do

why do you want to buy it? does it fit you? or does its appearance appeal to you?

you answer mine, i may answer yours

    (but probably not)

  • haha... after reading some of the other forum posts i guess i didnt get quite as much shit as most.
but, basically, the frame will fit me will, being honest - im a big fan of the aesthetic looks of the bianchi but i wont be putting any damn lipstick on a pig...

  • but, yeh, if anyone is selling there's with a lower price that would be swell, but frank answers on the price and the bike itself would be awesome

  • How old is it? Has the owner looked after it (or treated it like one treats swine)?

A well kept one will go for £300-350, any higher and I'd say you're paying over the odds. Especially as they retailed at £425 until earlier this year.

  • dude if you can afford it buy it, you want it now, you'll have to pay slightly over the odds. buy it ride it, enjoy it whilst the weathers still with us.
have you checked ebay to look at how much 2nd hand pista's go for? £400 is slightly over the odds, but he wants to get back as much as he can, you can always find one cheaper but how long will you have to wait for it?
    just buy it!

  • Yeh731 might be selling his too. Drop him a line...

thanks for those more direct answers. the ebay listing is up there and i have his number to make the call. its at 310 right now but he had a buy it now price of 400 before bidding started. i might be able to call and see if we can arrange a birthday deal.

  • just to chuck in another element to the equation, any advice on the fuji track vs the bianchi?

  • pink, come on!, don't do this, don't make us do all the work for you, now your starting to get second thoughts, there a plethora of threads about off the peg (otp) bikes, go and use the search to find out about them and make a decision.

  • And to help you the search button is on the top right hand side of each page on this site.

  • just to chuck in another element to the equation, any advice on the fuji track vs the bianchi?

The Pista is better because it's chrome and you can see the bottom of your balls reflected in the top tube.

  • fair play. ill leave the thread space. i was waiting for an andyp comment really. cheers for advice
i'm a libran, have been through all types of ideas. been looking at building up my first bike with old school racing frames, all that but have got lazy and thought maybe just do the do with an "otp". ta ta for now

  • The Pista is better because it's chrome and you can see the bottom of your balls reflected in the top tube.

I loved that about mine too, although it was my balls being reflected rather than yours. I think.

@pink - am I some kind of sage? Fuji is a great bike for the money.

  • cool, always good to know i can check how they're doing

  • Goldfinger break lever is useless without the break calipers IMO ;)

  • good point, didnt clock that at all

  • Worth mentionning that contrary to popular belief getting a Bianchi Pista is not "owning a bit of Italian cycling history".

  • visit your lbs too

  • The Pista is better because it's chrome and you can see the bottom of your balls reflected in the top tube.

Brilliant! I'm getting a chrome frame just so I can say that's why I brought it.
