He cheated.
He doped.
But he rode with genuine style and panache.
And he also really tried to change.
He was an open book about his misdemeanours. He was no saint.
But he didn't need to die in such a crappy fashion.
He was younger than me, For fuck's sake!
I so wish that he had won just one more classic.

A terrible end to a tragic life.

He had style and panache for sure. He also took bad advice from those looking to profit from him and was a troubled soul. To be honest, this news did not come as a surprise, which makes it all the more sad.

May he rest in peace.
