It's ok, he is being bullied at school and this was his last attempt to do something cool.
He will now turn to painkiller abuse to stop the torment that is his life.
In 5 years he will be found in a gutter with a needle in his arm. -

Mate, he is 12 and clearly bored outta his skull - you seem like down-to-earth guy who has his head screwed on straight. Clearly the 12 y/o gimp isn't worth worrying about.
Chalk it up as an odd start to an otherwise good day...

Just spreading the chilled vibe - not sure why I'm so chilled today but I am not about to fight it...

Seriously wanted to jump off the bike and beat the little shit.
Should have. Sounds like he needs shooting in the face.

Nono, Gatorman is right ... plus, every time I lose my temper something bad happens, carnage all around, then I wake up but I cannot remember what happened, but for some reason my clothes are all ripped up. The next day there's always some news report of some green Monster causing havoc in the street. Funny, I swear I woke up just where that happened, but I don't think I've seen it.

where's a quote to a deleted post when you need one?

P - sounds as though you have not made that sacrifice yet to the commuter gods!
Weird.... but I am sure that most on here did far worse at 12 yrs

It's all well and good to chill out but if every time some little runt does this people ignore it, they keep on doing it. If they get a D-Lock in the gut they might think twice about doing it again.......
.........Just a thought

But: The sacrifice has been made!
Bike service has been paid for, and the long bibs have been worn in order to appease them ... no success! -

lol, totally. I can totally understand from the kids point of view how messing with clipped in cyclists would be hilarious.
They are just kids, you have to expect this. Just play them at their game, just race past swinging a skid nearly into their legs.

You need wheels like these badboys.
Personally, I ride one into town when I'm in a bad mood, people seem to give you a bit more space on the road.

The next time you see a 12 y.o about to do the same thing you'll be ready. Swerve around him, so he then left to face the oncoming traffic and is pomptly mown down. Darwinism FTW!

I refer the game of hit the pedestrian, am currently 3 for 3 with a load of near misses, usually (but not always) scaring them more than me... i am still astounded the number of people who cross the road without looking in the direction of traffic or walk in cycle lanes... a firm elbow and a loud yell usually scares them shitless...

I propose a new game: See how many oversized baseball caps with price labels still attached you are able to pluck from the heads of 'gangsta' youths.

We could sell them down Brick Lane on a Sunday

I wouldn't apply the term 'gangsta' in this case, really.
In fact I find the general depiction of youths as 'gangstas' and 'hoodies' to be a load of shite. After I now managed to numb myself completely with the help of a work day, I'll go with DFP:
They are just kids[...]

I had some 12 year olds try to hoof a ball at me one evening last week just for fun.
Thing is I broke my wrist in august so it's still healing and would have snapped again if I had come off.
Another thing is it could just have easily been my missus on her bike and she's still quite new to cycling and would have paniced a bit.
I try not to be violent and didn't relish the thought of slapping a 12 yo but at the same time I agree with Malibu, you can't just let them get away with it.Anyone found the best way to deal with these hood-rats so they learn their lesson not to do it again?
Reckon I should have just picked up their ball and fucked off. Hindsight's a great thing.

I turned around and chased some school kids after they hit me with a snowball. Little fuckers all hid behind cars though before fucking off when I threatened death unto their families or something.
Still, it's just revenge from when I was a kid and the shit we used to get up to. -

So I was standing at a red light in Peckham, opposite the gas station.
Loads of pupils crsossing, all good.
Light changes, junction is clear in front of me. I set off. As I clip in and get the first two revolutions going a mayeb 12 year old runs right over the junction from half behind me, where I couldn't see him, right into my path. I tried to steer away, but couldn't avoid running into him. Had the hand not on the brakes, and barely managed to clip out and fall down hard. Thankfully I didn't gain any speed yet.
Then the little shit turns around and laughs, and shouts at his friends "Didn't I tell you? Didin't I tell you?". So basically he ran into me ON PURPOSE?
Seriously wanted to jump off the bike and beat the little shit.
