water weight is shed on purpose before a fight's weigh in- and there's a fuckload- basically forced dehydration.
Then- drink loads again and your body soaks it up, and you're fine to fight.
Same deal with lightweight rowing teams.
So its a temp loss of weight.

Henners - that was my point. It's OK to get water off for the scales, but it's not real weight loss. One of the reasons they brought weigh-ins forward in boxing, was to give boxers time to rehydrate before the fight. Dehydration in an attempt to lose weight was thought to be a significant contribution to brain damage. So, in the context of Andy trying to shed the pounds, I was quesioning the wisdom of sweating off the water.......
