zed have you seen the raleigh track bike that the mechanic in cavendish reconditioned? Was for sale a while back on here and had the same colour with some nice period decals on it... worth a look if thats the direction your heading.

You can't powdercoat over decals, it'll fry them.

Clear lacquer is £15 with a powder coat - not sure how much on its own.

Hey guys, just got a 80s crazy pink daccordi. The whole frame is nickel plated underneath the pink paint. The chainstay is chrome and so is the forks but its totally covered in thick rust. I've started work on the forks and used rust remover and autosol, still have some rust to deal with. I've come to a conclusion to just do a powercoat on the frame. I really want to keep the chrome chainstay, what should I do? Should I remove the rust my self or let armourtex blast it off(would that blast the chrome away too?)
Lastly, anyone wants to powercoat gold? I'm thinking something between a champagne gold and yellow gold.

If possible try to sort the chrome out as much as possible yourself, it can be masked when blasting and powdercoating but blasting will fuck it up. All the chrome is totally covered in rust then let it go. Paint the lot.

I could be in! I am looking for that as a possible colour. I am just waiting for the bike to arrive in the next few days. Or possibly a sparkily orange.

Thanks George. I'll try remove the rust first.
ChainBreaker, how about coppery gold? Let me know when you get your frame. I think It'll take me few days just to get the rust off.

Is anyone interested in joining me getting a frame sprayed silver / metallic effect in the next few weeks?

coppery gold.
FTW. I like that idea. I will probably need to scrub mine clean as well. Im just hoping its not only held together with the rust;-)
Cheers Josh, hopefully the decals will look OK on it.
