No. A 46 is a more sensible option, maybe even a 45 if you are keeping the 16.
And don't easy me, if you fly into the middle of a lady on a cream roller (as someone did last week) because your gear ratio is dumb I will belt you one in the face (actually, I probably won't, I'll probably just cry. But really you are being selfish by riding a bike you can't stop).
