I would say stubborn, just stupid.
Their is no good reason for doing what your doing, it will actually make you slower in traffic. I pass dumb dudes like you all the time on my little 48x18 ratio, I had no problem stopping on it when I used to ride fixed and I didn't ride around all the time with the fear that someone would do something several feet in front of me and I wouldn't be able to stop in time.
