I've been looking at the Garmin Edge, especially the cheaper ones without maps. Thinking of trying it with some downloaded Open Stree Maps data.

I think it's the same, except you can't do route planning on-the-go. Should still give you warnings before junctions on planned routes, though, right? And I'll be able to download a GPX file from Bikely and have it guide me through the route?
If this should work then I think an older 205 should do everything I want for half the price of the new 605/705.
