  • I used the fiddlesticksing search and don't think that this has been posted yet..

Raleigh are launching a racing team next year with the hope of competing in the TDF in 5 years..

  • Hopefully they'll also get back to building high end bikes.

  • I've lost count of the number of British teams who've launched with the intent of competing in the Tour in the next 5 years. The last British team to do so was ANC-Halfords in 1987.

Sorry to be cynical but British cycling history is littered with teams launched in a fanfare of publicity only to run into money problems shortly after (Team Brite anyone? Team Linda McCartney?)

Any brand value Raleigh had for high end racing bikes is long gone, so their marketing team would be better off thinking about that little problem first.

  • Some guy in my building's got one of those Team Raleigh road bikes in the sweet red and yellow or something, if they want to borrow it.

  • I've got some nice Raleigh forks up for sale in Classifieds if anyone wants to look like a future TDF rider.

  • Hopefully they'll also get back to building high end bikes.

    Isn't that YOUR job ;)

  • I thought it was they were setting up a team to compete in British races, with the aim of doing Continental races within 5 years.

Cycling News article makes no mention of the Tour besides that a Raleigh was riden to victory in 1980
