I can't believe my first post will bump a message over a year old. But stay with me...
I came across this on gumtree
http://www.gumtree.com/london/73/46232473.htmlThese looked nice bikes, so I Googled the mobile number and got two lads calling themselves Bermondsey Bikes with this website: http://www.londonsinglespeedbikes.co.uk/
Which gave me a lot of encouragement. It seems they get frames, sort them and apply new bits and sell them on. Hence the relevance to this post.
Does anyone know Dani and his builder-colleague and have any comments before I go ahead and talk to them seriously about a bike?

There's an interesting thread staring dani2uk here:

Wow that's some volatility! I think I need to revisit their site and see if they have discovered how to fit two brakes (and put them in the right place). It's quite a time since those posts, maybe they've learned a bit. I hope so for their sakes. Quite a bumpy start for them.
Anyway, I appreciate your input hippy. It's pretty scary trying to find the right complete bike or f&f for a build up. I've built/rebuilt 3 mtbs, but the components are so vastly different they might as well be from another planet. I've been riding bikes since I was a nipper, now ride mostly mud, but want a bike (that isn't an MTB with slicks or a dodgy OTP) to get around London when I train in.
Thanks for leading me to that thread.

ha, he still never sued me.
Is this a good idea? Was asked by someone on here about people who help build things, for free, for beer and for cash, and I couldn't find a comprehensive list, so thought i'd try and put one up here... Please add to it, as i'm sure I haven't got everyone.
