I'm told that they have fairly fast turnaround times, although I haven't been to one myself.
I have been to the minor injury wards for a variety of sprains, a broken ankle, and a fractured tibia amongst other things. They are by far a better alternative to A&E, where i actually ended up waiting for 4 hours in a waiting room with appendicitis. Luckily it didn't burst while I was waiting, but the point is, avoid A&E wherever possible, and use facilities that are under used by the public, but will perfectly serve your needs.
