I can't find any facts to back that wild claim up. They're just a cross between a Golden Delicious and something else.
I was at one of oh so many weddings earlier this summer, my girlfriend's cousin was getting married to... a female woman presumably, I can't remember. His surname is Bramley. The father of the bride was making some rambling speech with all of these crap apple metaphors in it, "The apple of my eye... married a Bramley... may they one day make some little Golden Delicious's of their own" my girlfriend turned to me and rolled her eyes in disgust. I shrugged and whispered "at least he didn't say "Cox"". At which she loudly spat champagne. Everyone looked round and I had to help her out of the room (luckily we were by the door) pretending that she was choking on something. It was one of my proudest moments (she doesn't normally think i'm very funny).
