Overshoes with clips and straps?

I bought seal skin socks a couple of weeks ago, which seemed like a good idea.. and it is... until you stop spinning and all the water runs down your legs and into your socks. At which point you have two bags of water in your shoes. Fail.

Do you have the long one or ankle length.

I've got some army surplus waterproof socks (full length) whihc eventually get wet if you have to paddle (this happened when I was fording a stream, not down Brighton) but at leat the water warms up like in a wetsuit so you feat are warm. Do your feet stay dry otherwise I don't know if it's worth the upgrade form army boy.
