• weaslepopper, you totally should build that into a town/singlespeed bicycle, leaving the mudguard, rack etc. on.

    it's always nice to have a bike for going around town in proper comfort.

    almost forget to mentioned, the 3 speed fixed hubs would go very well with that if you want to build it up as a fixed wheel bike.

    I'm going to build it just using the components off my other bike for now to see how it rides. Will definitely keep the racks, especially the front one. There's a lot of clearance on the forks so could get some nice fat comfy tyres if it goes well.

    3 Speed fixed hub sounds good for this build but need to do things on the cheap for now. Was hoping to find something a bit crapper in the street to be honest for a commuter bike whereas this kind of needs some particular love and attention...

    just tried to get the cranks off but the thread on the cranks is about 5mm wider than on my crank tool so cant push them off. Might have to cut through the vintage stonglight cranks eek
