48,000Y = ~£400 (not including shipping) = you're better off buying locally, as usual.

the frames dont look bad up close... i was having a closer look at Tom Dixons show at the portobello dock last week and they had loads of tokyo bikes on display... worth a look if they are that cheap and the parts look similar to blb own stuff from the east...

wheelbase on the fixed gear is mahoosive.

Wow.... do you buy Monocle? I've always wondered who does.

Ha was going to post the same thing. I've always figured nobody buys it with their own money, it's for the reception at West End ad agencies.

26" wheels.

Just saw these on 'It's nice that', so ironic

Surprised they were mentioned in Monocle at all really. Its a great mag, but they do tend to favour the high end of things

Look a tad expensive at £500. Could easily get an OTP for much less, or spend a bit more and get a hand built frame,

Looked like they just opened a shop is spitlefields / had some sort of opening night.
Anyone go?
Looked alright close up, but a bit generic, didn't ask about price tho.

looks pretty shit and they are probably outsourcing for parts with a cheap manufacturer. Just like Unicack.
Use pretty colours and make it look like a 'fixie', have a 'launch', get some good press and bobs your uncle...
No design purpose just a load of guys trying to make money.
/rant.

i went down, free sake! bikes looked ok. most of them had gears from what i could see. looked a whole lot better than unipack, create, old skool hooligan etc....
-
• #16
yeah they looked good i was there too.
-

jv, that's my thinking too, I don't like their bike much, but if it's reliable and does the job for the owner, then fair play to them.
-

You'd hope so when they are priced from £420 (according to website), roughly two or three times that of a Unipack. Mind you for that much you could get an OTP bike.

Walked past a new bike shop on the corner Commercial St yesterday - Toyko Bikes. Pretty small - but has a downstairs no idea how big that is, geared & SS, all branded frames in hipster colours from the looks of it.
Didn't see any parts on sale so will try and pop in today and post more info.

Anyone actually get around on one of these? Would / would not recommend?
Housemates looking to replace stolen bikes. I'm trying to convince them into buying jimalex's Guerciotti http://www.lfgss.com/thread51599.html but they're looking into one of these or a Fuji. I've managed to get them off the Creates FWIW
I've only just found this from a small article in Monocle magazine, unless the bike turn out to be shit (shitty part like the unipack), I thought it's fantastic, a simple and straightforward design/part that's enough to get you from a to b without fuss, even thought it's pretty ugly, it look like something I would recommend to a person who just need a transport.

No idea on the pricing thought as it's quite new, but if it under £400, I reckon it would be a steal.
if it's going to cost £800, sod off.
