How do you bring up a current process list on a mac?
You use an app called Activity Manager Monitor, comes with every Mac. It's a GUI version of UNIX's top.
Search for it in Spotlight. Make sure you select All Processes in the top right corner and order them by CPU usage. This will give you an idea which program/process is eating the CPU resources. I had my fans spin up randomly once because a Canon print driver process had fucked up its shutdown.
