I have sold this frameset (great bike but the ride quality is far too harsh!)
and have swapped everything over to a 'Bianco - with a Charge Spoon from one of my other bikes, a pair of Tektro V-brake cable adjusters, FSA headset and carbon 'post.
Loving the ride comfort plus the short frame (fag paper clearance with the rear mudguard!) gives nice handling......very impressed for the money. Ideal for workhorse duites......I doubt the white paint will stay clean for very long though!
I've been commuting 20 miles per day on the SS Tricross for 7 months and have increasingly become unhappy with the comfort. Nothing to do with the geo, but it's very harsh, crashy over bumps etc. A short spell during the summer commuting on my geared road bike made me realise just how harsh it is. So I thought I'd look around for alternative framesets to swap everything over. Looks like I've found the one for me.
How did you find the sizing? I am just over 6' with 32" inside leg, riding a 56cm Singlecross. Should I go for the 54 Pompino?
Does the frame take caliper brakes? I don't particularly like the V brakes of the Tricross.
When you say fag paper clearance with the mudguard at the rear, what size tyre?

Strange, I have been commuting 30 miles a day on my Tricross since I bought it and I find it really comfortable.
Must be my fat arse soaking up the bumps. -

Comfort differences in frame material are completely overblown anyway (how much can a metal that is joined into triangles actually move!) Worth reading Mike Burrows views on the matter, although he is outspoken it does make you think and it is obvious that tyres will make a far bigger difference. -

I wasn't referring to your fat arse (or lack of it), more about whether you have fat arsed tyres.

Sizing is smaller than a Tricross, I would say, with a short head tube and wheelbase. I wouldn't like to say what size to go for, I don't know if you want a stretched out ride, or more upright but you might want to go for an XL - up to you!
The frame is V-brakes or Cantilevers, it won't take caliper brakes. I find the Tricross V's to be excellent, especially with the addition of the Tektro in-line adjusters and the bar top levers are a nice addition. I've got bikes with caliper, drum and V's and find V's to be the best - nice power and easy to modulate, but horses-for-courses
I run 700x28's, the mudguard bridge is quite close to the seat tube, compared with the Tricross (you could park a bus in the gap of those!) and had to to space the mudguard out a few mm to avoid it touching the seat tube. I reckon 32's would squeeze in there.

Must be my fat arse soaking up the bumps.I don't know what difference it would be with the stock 700x32 tyres as I only ran it on 700x28's but all I know is I found the ride to be very harsh and crashy over anything but smooth tarmac. A real disappointment. What is a surprise is that I have an aluminium-framed Sirrus and that isn't harsh at all.
I've done about 400 miles now on the Pompino frame and it's like light-and-day in comparison. A genuinely comfortable ride, all day.

My geared roadie is aluminium with carbon fork (as the tricross) and smaller tyres, yet the ride is far more comfortable. So I don't think it's material-specific or down to the tyre size.

No worries at all. They do make life sooo much easier.
Of course, I'm just about to replace my SKS fenders with a set of Gilles Berthoud metal ones powder coated to match the frame, so no more quick release for me. :^(
But they'll look great! :^)
