I had a pair of wheels built to my specification by Outspoken Cycles (www.outspokencycles.co.uk) a year or two back. They did a great job.

Depends what you want and who you know.
Most shops build wheels. Find a shop that sells or can order in the rims / hubs / spokes you want and get them to build it, or buy 'em yourself and get a shop with good wheel builder to build it, or find a good wheel builder not in a shop, from this here forum say.Simples.

source the stuff yourself. use a spoke length calculator to determine spoke length. buy/borrow a spoke wrench, get a copy of jobst brandts book or print out a few relevant pages from the sheldon brown site, brew a good pot of coffee and build it yourself.
if your run out of patience/confidence in the process, simply lace the wheels and take them to any lbs to get them to true them.
10.000 times as fun. i also love to hunt down the very special bits at good prices - have patience here and you'll do great. -

or i can build them for you....10 per wheel........sourcing your own parts would work out cheaper as i dont do internet shops.......tell me what hubs/rims you wanna use and i tell you the spoke lenght/get the spokes.......

Anyone out there who does a source and build service for custom wheels or is it more a case of me sourcing and then finding wheel builder?
What is the best option, shop or freelancer?
Hillybilly and dogsballs on this forum both build wheels. Very well, too.
