Individual 105 STI shifter?

Posted on
  • i got hit and run by some wanker in a civic last night. im not too badly injured and just have a sore knee. the left shifter (front mech) however is buggered. the rest of the bike is fine.

its a 10 speed 105 STI lever, does anyone know if i can get one somewhere individually? i dont want to fork out for a set.

if not does anyone have one theyd like to sell me?

  • When one of my 105 shifters broke on a previous bike, I baulked at the cost of a new set! I managed to find one being sold individually on ChainReaction for £40.

  • yeah ive been quoted £245 for a new set! MY LBS did say that another guy needs just a right, so maybe i can go half's with him.

where on the ChainReaction site did you see them sold individually? i can find them as a set for £199, but i don't see an option for choosing either left or right.

EDIT: ive now found that i can get an ultegra left hand by itself. im considering getting it, but is it going to be weird having different hoods, or are they a very similar profile?

  • £200 for a new set!? I bought the same pair for £99 last year!

Anyway, people do sell individual shifters on eBay. I advice you wait for one to pop up there.

  • The wrath of insane shimano price hikes strikes again...

  • shimano has gone up so much that 2010 bikes have been downgraded in spec in some models. Giant have nothing under a grand with 105, madness

  • don't they? what price is the defy 1?

The tcr advanced SL with electric dura ace is EIGHT GRAND.

  • My bike was just under three grand with Ultegra, it's a 2007, so you didn't always get the top end groupset at that sort of price.

The version with DA and Ksyrium ES etc was just over four grand.

  • ive got a ultegra triple left hand STI shifter going spare - new face plate for it too so GC. its yours for £30? in numbers i think its called ST-6600 or 6603

  • my current shifters are shimano 105, 5600.

the only individual left shifter i can find to buy is an Ultegra 6600, which is only £9 more than than a 105 shifter would cost. seems like a no brainer.

i dont want shifters with a radically different hood profile. i expect that the finish will be different, but im not bothered about that as long as they are the same shape and feel the same in my hands. how similar are these hood shapes?

  • im afer a 9 spd r/h shimano shifter ultegra /105 whathaveyou - any cond as long as it works
