• If I wanted a freewheel big wheeled bike for tricks I would just get a 26 inch cruiser/jump bike, I ride my bike because its tough for tricks, but still fun and comfortable to get around on.
How many times have I repeated that paragraph in the last few months.......i'm losing count.

  • You lot still don't get it.

Guys.... Please... Chill and watch this......

  • W.o.n.k.a.....!!!!!!

  • YouTube - skillz keanue

Let me see you do this with a coaster brake you silly pastry making northerner

  • what, a lame semi-wallride to fakie? easy with a freewheel, except i get both wheels a few feet up the wall rather than being a pussy and just putting the front wheel on it...

  • pastry lover I dont get why you're not even taking anything that's been said on this thread in, or why you have this huge chip on your shoulder.

  • I don't get why you've linked to my profile.

I don't have a chip on my shoulder at all, just scars.

I don't think it's me who's failing to take in what people are saying... I think you'll find it's the other way 'round...

Please point out where anything worth taking in has been said...

I'm not sure why people seem to think I'm dissing. My original post was a perfectly valid question about the future of doing tricks on 700c bikes - a question which seems to have been almost completely overlooked.

    hard core.

In answer to your question which was not posed as a question and was put across as more of a statement and why its better to not ride fixed for tricks. In my opinion no you prediction is wrong and it wont happen, if people want to ride bikes with big wheels that aren't fixed their are options out there already so why not just use those.

dont recommend on beginner videos like ours, recommend on the "pro" videos.

you are not the only bmxer here. nice that you can easily pull all those tricks (better). can you fixed?

  • step away guys, this guy is fucking hard core

  • a hard core pastry lover?

  • it seems to me, just arriving on this thread, that neither pastry lover nor SP are getting it.. but the rest of you aren't coming up with a particularly articulate argument even though you know full well why why you do it..

twelve: I understand, i just dont see how its relivant.
Also i dont see how a coaster hub would work. Fixed isnt about not needing a back brake. It presents an interesting challenge and a bit of fun.
twelve has it about right. Surely there is no reason other than it's about trying to see you what you can do with a fixed gear "big" bike, not what you can't do. If it bores you and you feel limited and frustrated and look to your bmx longingly, then go back to the bmx. For a good thirty to fifty people in London at least though, they're having a blast seeing what can be done with a fixed gear. Personally, I think it's a shame a lot of the static stuff is ignored as fixed gear enables some balancing stuff that can look really elegant, but I dig the influence of bmx (and maybe mountainbiking) is hard to ignore.

The problems in justifying fixed gear tricks vs. doing stuff on a bmx started when builds started to mutate out of the original track bikes (/conversions) people were using maybe..as the builds, inevitably, have quickly come to resemble - because of the ruggedness of components and the geometery - some kind of bmx supercruiser. but pastrylover - though you may be right in terms of where fixed tricks might go (and who knows?) in terms of the idea being rejected by the wave after the next wave of people looking to get into it, the guys who are riding fixed and using it as a platform to freestyle are having a whole bunch of fun trying to push themselves doing it and see what they can come up with, and that's what it's about. Btw SP, it's really not about trying to say "Oh yeah I was one of the first people doing that shit".. it's really not about that at all. I'm always surprised at how people can still not understand that you don't put in hours of practice a day and injure yourself to all fuck just so you can look cool.

  • Well done Phil, I think you just articulated it better than any of us did, that pretty much sums it up right there!

  • Thank you pajamas

oh please, not more of that "+1" i-can't-think-for-myself-so-i-have-to-go-along-with-what-someone-else-is-saying bullshit.

  • I've only been riding fixed for a few weeks - took a long time to finally get a bike built.

So far just doing little bunny hops, skids and jumping down stairs but doing something new everytime I go out.

I love it everything is such a challenge having to think about everything so much more.

Where i might jump 12 steps on my dirt bike without thinking, 4 or 5 is damn tricky on a fixed.

Having watched a few videos it's obviously not about volume with fixed freestyle, but about mixing tech with awesome style.

edit just read through the whole post - what a douche! also - why does it matter? people wanna play on fixed bikes doing tricks let them get on with it? wanna look like you're doing it fixed but have a freewheel? do it!

    whatever makes you happy!
