Would anyone make one as it would mean spacers HAD to be used otherwise lockring wouldn't fit.
Can you not just play around with any washers in between cone locking nuts and move the wheel across to the right a bit and then whizz a spoke key around to bring the rim back across?

some cogs have a wider inside edge than others, try around
-
• #4
the new ceramic Goldtec hubs are made with spacing in mind.
aint cheep though.

I thought of that, but really wanted to set it up with a couple of different cogs so I can flip it.
Goldtec ceramic hub is somewhat beyond my price range...
and I was doubtful about whether it was really possible, but I was just going on the fact this place is selling cog spacing kits

Though looking at their photos it doesn't look like there's much room for a lockring to fit on there. Still it suggests some people are doing it. I don't know... I shuold probably spend some more time trying to figure out the Sheldon link from their FAQ. -

Having read a bit more, it does look like the cheaper (though not very cheap) Goldtec hubs space the cog out further anyway, so maybe that's the way to go.

I don't understand this thread (not least TS and SPag's little mini-hijack).
@ the OP: Why not get a new BB to sort the problem, rather than lacing up a new wheel?
-

Could be a chainstay/chainring inteference issue, hence he needs to run a 45mm chainline rather than 42mm?
-
• #17
real men run a 45.6mm chainline.

I don't understand the majority of this thread either...
New BB isn't an option because the spider's just about touching my chainstays already. The reason the chainline's out is I've had to put the BB (it's an adjustable miche one) a little over to the driveside to clear the chainstay.
I'd like the change my hub anyway as want a double fixed one, so it's not that much of a problem. Just need to decide whether this is the point I should finally try and learn to build wheels, or just sell my old one and buy a whole new wheel with a Goldtec hub.

Much more concise than my explanation...

Any spice loaf left? -

really? pae seems so much more sciencey
there is some left... i am feeling pretty loafed out though...
I need to get a hub that'll allow me to space out the cogs a few mm - my present cheap one doesn't seem to have enough room. Can anyone reccomend a double fixed hub that'll have atleast 3mm of thread spare to accomodate a spacer as well. This is possibly a stupid question... in which case I'm sorry.
(and i can't adjust chainline at the front any further).
Cheers
