  • Did a couple of seasons in Austria 7 years ago though. Pretty straight forward affair. 1 season at a hotel (avoid at all costs) and 1 in a casino (a lot better). Know a couple of people that own/manage bars in Kitzbuhel and St. Anton if you're interested but with the hours those guys open your time on the mountians will be mostly when you're hungover. It's also mainly 6 day weeks and in the really busy weeks 7 day weeks.

  • And whoever said Avoriaz that's definately a +lots. Great destination.

  • he's lying. don't come here there's fuck all jobs and all the flats have gone.

  • http://www.skibig3.com/banff-lake-louise/banff-lake-louise-shopping/banff-lake-louise-season-passes get it today though or it goes up by about £300. no pressure or anything..

Summer jobs are easier to get 'cause they view Winter as their off-season. Summer is much busier there apparently.

  • I'd love to do this. Looked into it when i was younger like 18 but pussied out.
I think next season i might actually just go and do it though too many things holding me to london this year. Is it easy to find something even if you dont speak the lingo? It looks like most of you head to France over Switzerland, Italy and Austira ANY REASON?

    Les Salope!

speak a little french - no german or italian at all...

Get on it this year, looks like I may have got a job working at a club med, which means lush accomodation and grub at least, can always look at other things once out there.

Gonna give canada a miss this winter, maybe next year though?

Well excited, 6 weeks to go and i'm gonna be eating powder... poomf!

  • Morzine is big, and tends to be the british seasonaires resort of choice so chances of jobs could be minimal. Perhaps do some research on La Plagne area, Its massive and tends to get overlooked by seasonaires on their first port of call. Doesn't matter where you go though really, doing a season is awesome and you'll love it.

Chalet work isn't too bad at all, just need to be organised and you'll get a full day on mountain. Try Crystal, Inghams, Neilson. Minimal customer contact is good when chalet assistant or handy man if you don't mind getting your hands dirty. Also doing resort transfers on weekend are good for a bit of cash (rest of the week free). DO NOT RESORT REP, IT SUCKS.

    Have a great season!

PS. Sorry to be a party pooper but this bit below is not cool, and also offensive. Avalanches kill, please remember this!

anyone else ride the awesome little valley that runs down the back of the big gondola and brings you down that narrow track behind the penken park? started a sweet ass avalanche when I was there - and went back the next day to see half valley had avalanched..

  • yeah I'd like to echo that sentiment.
and if you go anywhere on a mountain take a fucking transceiver, shovel and probe and know how to use them.

    on another note,
Is anyone mates with patrol in Switzerland/ Austria?
I'm qualified now, but don't really want to go to Canada...

  • +1 apart from minimal customer contact being good, the more effort you make with people you make the better off you'll be during your season, i.e. people on holiday buying you drinks, possible tips even people leaving you their booze stasha tt he end of their week. as money in ski resorts are in rubbsh!

i think as a chalet host i was on £200 per month, and that doesnt buy many 6 euro beers, god knows what they are now!

so getting on with people in my chalet was the best way to have a good time, not in a sycophantic way though as at the end of the day most people go skiing to have a good time, apart from families, feck knows what they go to ski resorts for...

I would like to emphasise i didn't intend to start an avalanche - believe me!- but you can't deny the rush of fear and adrenaline as you fly down on the crest of one but are lucky enough to escape it / for it to ease up.

I understand why this could be a sore subject, so apologies if i've upset anyone!
