Chew them down and polish the ends smooth with your eyeball.
"Measure twice cut once." is always a good bit of advice.
"Right tool for the right job" too.Hacksaw with sharp, correct (metal) blade.

Why a hack saw and not an angle grinder with the correct metal cutting disc
Because it's like shooting a deer with an exocet. You're only going through thin tubing.

Wrapping one turn of masking tape around the place you are going to cut can help - stops the hacksaw slipping.

The motorbike bars were no where near thin tubing but I used an aluminium cutting disc and now its done.
Now have some bull horns and a pair of moustache bars.

Motorbike bars? WTF?
Oh, I see you mention them. Alloy? An angle grinder would go through them in 5 seconds. What about the other bars?
And, if you're just going to ignore the advice given, why ask in the first place?

this same fucking question was asked many times, angle grinder??
best to take it to a bike shop, or give up cycling all together.

Personally, I rub my bars on my cock until they wear down to the correct length required. Takes a bit longer but the result is lovely.

Yeah, I also rub my bars on Hippy's cock until they wear down to the correct length required. Takes a bit longer but the result is hilarious.

As i tried with the hacksaw and it wasn't going through as the motorbike bars were so thick, hence the angle grinder coming out.
It took a bit longer than 5 secondseven on the bike ones...
I thnk you for the advice I took it, and tried and then when with the power tools.

Plumber's pipe cutter. Super.
Sounds like the name of some kind of Real Ale.
Me: Hello barman, may I trouble you for a pint of Plumber's Pipe Cutter?
Barman: Fuck off you stupid cunt.
Me: Ok, Bye.

Ok, Bye.
:)Less than a tenner, leaves a very nice, blunt bevelled edge. Can be lent to friends for pints. Worth it's weight in steel.

I have one you can borrow, if you want. Coming to London tomorrow evening.

cutting just witha hacksaw is a surefire path to a wonky cut..
pipecutter +1 bit time consuming on thick alu bars, but a nice finish. -

genuine question, thats usually for copper pipes does it do well with ali?
-
• #19
Yeah, works fine. I went through a heavy-duty steel one with mine and it took a while, but worked great. Alu should be easier.

Well have a set of curly road bars and a old alloy motorbike handlebars that I was thinking about cutting down. The road bars I think will make cool bull horns but the motorbike ones I was thinking of having them on the bike cut down and upsidde down to make some clip on motorbike style bars.
Any addvice on cutting down before I attack them with an angle grinder?
