The best possible start to an amazing weekend.
I rocked up to the rollas a bit later as we were playing polo and having post match G's, missed some of the qualifiers and didn't expect to be doing any racing at all.
Luckily I meet Gina on the front steps and asked if she was racing to which she replied yes but her partner hadn't arrived yet.
Rather than see her jilted on the alter I offered my services as her racing buddy.
A short while later as qualifiers were finishing up she got back to me and we formed the team Gina-G and the Replacement.
I was a bit nervous I'd let her down as I do next to no riding these days unless it is out to the pub to get hammered.
We qualified into the final 16 and got to have two more races before we were dispatched by Bonny and Clyde in true gangster fashion.
I was grateful to have gotten the chance to participate.
Two great teams, Tom and Jerry and The Professionals then set about demolishing their way through the remainder of those still standing.
The end match was a master class in roller racing with Tom and Jerry pulling out all the stops and roaring home to a sensational win with the crowd near screaming the roof off.
It was an interesting venue and the staff of proper East-end geezers must have be pretty amused by the whole affair.
Thanks to the organisers and to the documenters but especially to Gina for allowing me to have a spin.
