I would think that the energy saved from not sending 350 mobile phone messages, 350 people travelling to a destination, perhaps by heavily polluting public transport, is a damn sight more environmentally friendly than organising or participating in a Flashmob.
Anyway, from the little I have read, the science really doesn't support the "catastrophe" hypothesis.
