  • Actually I think they were designed to be ridden like 'that'.

In terms of comparing it to a bmx, strength wise they would probably be very similar(possibly better except for thin lightweight wheels). A BMX is made out of similar materials, but has a relatively tiny headtube with massive 2pc handlebars.

Hmm... maybe you are right, I am underestimating them. I didn't mean relegate them to mere novalty when it comes to tricks. They'd certainly stand up to the stresses I would put them under as a rider (I'd probably break before the bike does).

I think its pretty pointless saying 'why not just get a bmx' it isnt a bmx and I dont think its trying to be.

I guess, this is what I was trying to say. In my case it probably could replace my bmx but for most they couldn't and aren't supposed too.

It is a little fun bike.

    Well said.

I like em - begging for a Tuff on the front for mini HHSB win!

If you're feeling flush you could always go for Vivalo, Thomson, Chris King etc.

  • all of the draw backs of that 20" bike have already been cured by cannondale with thier hooligan , its not a fixed , but it has an eccentric BB so can easily be converted , its has a very long seat post and compact strong frame , which addresses the weak down tube joint , i have the hooligan with the afline 8 speed hub and love it for urban cycling , very twitchy handling whihc makes it great for weaving from kerbside to centre through lanes of traffic , the hooloigan has very sturdy BMX rims and high pressure BMX tyres , ive had a hooligan for over a year now , and i love the thing , only problem i would say is the smallness of the chainring , but got a set of 144 bcd cranks to replace the bend MTB things currently on it, the only down side is the price of the cannondale hooligan , especially since the $/£ rate has dropped so much , i was lucky to get a model with half 08 and half 09 parts on sale , i think cannondale were just clearing out parts from the shelves when they put it together

  • i want one of these! Think I'll wait until the bandwagon goes past and they make some cheaper ones. (if it ever does go past)

  • porter, are you the one with the blue cutter?

  • just came across these again, forgot all about them. Anyone ever get one?

  • I think if I was going for a 20" fixed I'd get a folding one for the added benefits of a 'foldie'. But I'm no trickster.

  • I'm very sorry to bump this old old thread, but I don't have permission to start a new one myself it seems.

Did anyone one here actually buy one of these?

I am very interested in a 1 Gen (the one with the cable guides), if anyone has one and is considering to sell it, please send me a PM.

And how are the Cycroc's overall?

  • Am picking one up in the next few weeks... Been a long time coming but will let you know how it is as unfortunately I may need to get rid of it to make space...

  • ^ how much your after?fixed?

  • ^ how much your after?fixed?

I'll let you know once I've ridden it. I'm guessing that I'll be hooked and won't want to get rid and will sell something else to make space... or get a another shed...
