Your own Derny £900 BIN
I'd love one of these.
The sellers name, gangmakerpaul1 doesn't really inspire a sale. -

Lets just say the average person weighed 70kg. Eight people like that would total 520kg.
I personally would expect those wheels to buckle and those forks to fall to bits with such a load.

YouTube - Ride the Blackpool Lights 2009
Sketchy video of them riding it here. Very slowly.

Overpriced Raleigh Clubman, but open to negotiation on price it seems.

Nice shoes, but no option to ride these with clipless SPD-ish pedal systems.
Okay, I also ride with toeclips and straps, but not offroad. -

People used to race cross in clips and straps.

this could be a good starter if it stays low, ok its 501, but some nice components on there...http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-PEUGEOT-RACING-CYCLE-FIXIE-PROJECT_W0QQitemZ230379076934QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Bikes_GL?hash=item35a3a9bd46&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
or go straight for the jugular, low start:
Damn it, I can see the Peugeot rapidly spiralling outside of budget. Is it realistic to assume that I can get an 'ok' frame with a pretty crappy set up for £70 or under?
As I said before, whilst i do need a means of transport right now, I intend to use the bike as a project and don't really want to spank a lot on the initial investment. Anyone seen anything else for cheap out there?

peugeot's always get overbid in my experience, I've bought low end 531 bikes for less than £70 raleigh etc, you want to end up with SS or fixed?

if it IS 55 then it's a bit too big. I think that I really need a 53/54 (I'm only 5'8"). I was looking at this titanium Raleigh:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290350640884&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
(currently going for £82)but figured that a little bit less weight doesn't make up for the extra wear and tear that my shoulders'd take and I might as well get one that fitted. Also looking at this Koga Miyata, I think it looks pretty good and, providing it doesn't get hellexpensive in the next 72 hours, pretty much ideal:

thoughts?
@ Chaliapin: Lookin to end up with SS.

Can't see the dropouts on the Koga but I've got a feeling the're vertical.
I'd get in on the Dynatech if I were you ;-) -

Do you really think that there will be good bikes on sale for that much? Just had a look at that link and everything seems to be ridiculously high end. I could feasibly get there for 0700 and have an investigate, it's just a hell of a mission from Brixton, especially with a very, very, very limited budget!
