Still nothing constructive to say, interesting that!! How do you expect someone to know the fixie world without any prior experience?

@cambridgefgss and his brother
right. here's what to do.
let this thread die. don't respond to it anymore.
come back with a new name. don't try and sell bikes that look like this one for 600 quid. don't advertise bikes that, although they may have been professionally resprayed, have the headbadge painted over.
don't use the word fixie.
ask questions.
after UTFS.
HTFU.remember, this is london, my friend.

Agree except the fixie bit. There's nothing wrong with the word 'fixie' :)

I'm 18 and this is my brothers account, sorry for putting a bike i spent loads of time and money on for a price that would just about see me even!!! You guys could potentially give me some advise for what its worth etc and start proving you all know something about fixies rather than just claiming you do and then ripping the piss out of me!! I pity you people sad enough to slate me without showing any means of being anything other than demeaning critics, you know so much then why not help the new guy out? Seriously, this fixie community's damn hostile!!!
I'll have a slice of these fella's (thats humble pie just so the kids know) I feel bad for offering signed autographs of Witney Houston and MC Hammers trousers in return for all your hard work, and the three eggs were a step too far.I doff my hat to you for building a bike in the first place........even if it is a bit shite :-)
btw, it's worth £250 -

£600 for a raleigh bad conversion,i wouldnt hold your breath, but you can if you want to ;-0.cambridge and co you obviously have no idea what this forums about,pisstaking is part and parcel of it.if you UTFS you would have realised it.you come in here and try to tuck us all up for £600,then cry like a bitch when we rip the piss out of you for it .thanks for the thread and a bloody good laugh

put it on ebay and let the people bid on it. i'm quite curious to know how much it would go for, i've seen 2nd hand Langsters go for £500 so you never know ...

cambridge,
don't sweat it, the price was the issue here, which I'm sure you knew was unrealistic. It's hard to make money on bikes built specifically for sale especially if you use new bits. They can't compete with bikes that have been owned and ridden which tend to go a bit cheaper because the owner can factor in some depreciation.
You shouldn't care what I/anyone else say on this forum anyway. fixie riders were all bullied at school and harbour resentful feelings that manifest in the flaming of n00bs. You keep on and by the time you reach the average age of this forum you will be the fastest/build the most porn worthy rides etc.
YouTube - Curtis Mayfield / Move On Up
in the meantime though, you have to admit that the price/description was going to attract attention and the bike looks a bit wanky.

@cambridge.....don't take it to heart........most are just having fun and it has been funny...... alot of us have been into bikes all our lives, trade bike bits /bikes on this forum and the big wide world. lfgss is just the wrong place to add hipster tax. sell it on eBay. don't be sad, keep riding, chin up and good luck.

+1 to conservative values.
also, if you're looking to build a bike to flog it, look in current projects. that'll give you a look into what people are doing and therefore what's "hot" and what's "not". there's tonnes of vicious criticism in there whenever anyone "makes a mistake". you'll see that nobody is really going for the hot blue and pink look anymore.
hope that helps a little. and, if you are posting bikes to sell, you will get criticised. -

@CV, well said.

Is there any current thread that's like "I'm a noob. How much is my bike worth?"
I wouldn't mind seeing how much mine would be valued at. I bought it pretty blindly, not really aware of the quality/make of parts. So I'd like to know if I got a good deal or got ripped off or not.

• #246
Why not post it here? :)

Alright, here it is:

Swap out the brake lever and it would look nay too bad
You are giving Cambridge a bad name!......£600 for a 501 frame....for £600 i would expect a Roberts frame or similar with a top tubeset...Columbus Max or 853 plus top Shimano/Campag/Sugino and bloody good wheels etc......just my £0.02
