Front wheel loose

  • My front wheel is a bit lose, when I go fast it starts the wobble quite a bit, and it isn't doing my brake any good either.

I suspect the trouble to be in the axle, but what, I have no idea.

Went past a few bike shops and they all want to book it in, and that plus the fear of a high price keep me from doing so.

Anyone here with some skill willing to help me out? Perhaps allow to come over and take a look at it.

    Obviously for compensation.

    Thanks!

  • Cone nuts / lock nuts loose. Maybe. Depends what hub it is.

Bearings might need servicing / regreasing.

All easy when you know how.

Difficult to give advice without knowing what hubs / bearings (sealed?) you have.

  • loose headset
    forks
    bearing in front wheel
    slack spokes

sometimes a frame and fork combo just don't work angles all wrong usually with the older fashioned front forks where they almost curl round through 180 degrees maybe something to do with the rake / *****

you might just have a bit of speed wobble

  • Thanks for the advice guys!

Got luckyskull to take a look at it tomorrow! Huzzah.

  • The front and rear wheels are loose on my hybrid. Cornering quickly is a very interesting sensation. At first it's OK, then it feels like you're falling for a second, clunk, then OK again. It's quite fun.

  • luckyskull is a legend, seems there was a rather severe problem so he was able to fix it!

    Thanks Luke!

  • what was wrong with it ? do tell

  • I only got half of it but I think it was:

We took a look at the bearings and there was a lot of debris in there, so he replaced the bearings, and greased it up real good and now it runs super smooth. Oh and changed my rear wheel so now I ride fixed.

  • I've serviced two wheels this week that were nearly ok but had the occaisional grind to them that both turned out to have split bearings. Always worth checking bearings, regreasing and tightening cone nuts / general service every now and then.
