Nice pic and a nice old Stronglight chain set I see.
I've used allsort in the past - Brasso wool, rags and nail polish remover. I used to clean my old Chrome BMX with wire wool but it scratched the chrome and the rust would come back worse. My friend works with metal and gave me some 0000 grade wire wool. It's the finest stuff you can get and it doesn't scratch. It works a treat. I have some cranks that I need to polish a scratch out of. He suggested working down from 0, 00 to 0000 to finish. I've just bought a dremmel but not used it yet.
