  • Has anyone ever had a successful transaction with them?

They seem to be uncontactable via email or phone... and short of a trip out to Kent I wonder just what it is I'm supposed to do to give them my business.

So... seriously... has anyone actually had a transaction with them? The prices look suspiciously aged and the contact points are all dead ends. Are they even in business?

  • Fuck 'em then.

Looks like Starbike.com are going to make a load of money from me now.

Thanks for letting me know Scott.

Damn, I wish the companies who are importing stuff could just try and not be utterly shit.

  • "At Poshbikes, we believe that the best way to construct your on bespoke dream bike, is to contact us directly, either by email or preferably by phone"

    It's that simple!

  • I spoke with a guy called Andy about wheels and Tune hubs, was very helpful and gave me a useful German link. Never been there though. Roberto used to deal with them a lot.

  • I think they have been away at Eurobike, hence uncontactable by phone. You are right, they never reply to emails, but they are perhaps the most knowledgeable, helpful and customer friendly shop you will come across by phone. Not the cheapest, but delivery is prompt and warranty service is first rate. A downside to their service is that the phone can often be engaged, but it is well worth persevering.

  • I can't think of any situation where I could even conceive of spending £490 on a saddle and seatpost. Ever.

  • I have previously, bought a Storck Scenario frame, zero gravity brakes and some tune/DT Swiss wheels, same as above, rubbish by email, very helpful by phone.

  • So persisting by phone is worth considering?

Their prices seem out of date, and email is unresponsive.

The only thing that let me think it's worth continuing trying is that it goes back to an address ultimately via the domain registration.

    However...

The last updated file date I can is from 2006:
    http://www.poshbikes.com/reviews/

The registered company for the domain is Wallis Products Ltd:

    Registrant:
    Wallis Products Limited
    13/14 Willow farm buildings
    Tyland Lane
    Sandling
    Maidstone, Kent ME14 3BN
    GB

    Domain name: POSHBIKES.COM

    Administrative Contact:

    Booth, Matt <matt@blueflamedesign.co.uk>
    13/14 Willow farm buildings
    Tyland Lane
    Sandling
    Maidstone, Kent ME14 3BN
    GB
    01622 762055

And Wallis Products Ltd is turning over a sum so small that's barely registered according to Companies House. Implies that they're barely in business if in business at all.

I seriously want an item they're selling, and they are the UK importer. Going elsewhere adds more than £150 to the cost. But hells bells, I'm not sure they could do more to make me feel uneasy about spending money with them.

Even forgiving Eurobike... have they not heard of answering phones and updating messages to say something like "We're out at Eurobike and will be back on blah"?

  • We deal with poshbikes, they can be painful to contact & even more painful to actually get an order confirmed but obviously the end product is worth the toil.

They are a distro as well so whatever your after from them we might have in stock.

  • Velocio, Kevin Tye owns Poshbikes, he races alot in timetrials in Kent (and is brilliant). I have tried to get his contact details for you, but have so far failed, if someone comes back to me with it, I will pm you. Maybe google Kevin Tye, you might get a contact email for him. (he is also attached / owns ODSL.com)

  • You can only contact them by phone. Once you get through they are very helpful and you get want you want. I bought some Tune hubs from them earlier this year.

  • Ditto to that - I had a very good conversation with them about Mrs S's tune hub - they will get the new bearings for them and post to me, but only once they're back from Germany....

I thought that they were the most knowledgeable and helpful bike shop I have dealt with.

  • They finally got back... at Eurobike apparently. They still need to discover that wonderful 1980's invention "the answering machine", or perhaps the 1990's invention "the out of office email".

It doesn't matter, I spent my money at starbike.com instead. They were very responsive (within 30 minutes) the several times I spoke to them (including out of hours) and delivered within 3 days (even though they're in Germany).

Posh Bikes lost out on a good pay day because they utterly fail to recognise that people dropping thousands on bike components expect a quality of service that reflects that. Their loss, starbike's gain.
