The Taliban aren't a form of governance that can really be condoned. Unsurprisingly their human rights record is pretty shoddy and they aren't prepared to give that up in exchange for us not shooting at them and plenty of cash. Etc...

Heroin production was outlawed under the Taliban. The mass scale production has only returned since they were 'ousted.
