    God i wish it wasn't seen as being such a "cool" drug.

    Look, I don't know what the answer is with people who are chemically dependent. I like the idea of it being available as a perscription, but I don't see the semantics of this working any differently than a methadone clinic.

    But I can't even see the problem because I'm still so upset by my ex dying of an overdose. I don't know what to do about the fact that the drug is cool, and that people with abuse problems will want to experiment with it. And that these people, these inexperienced people, will die.

    I'm sure this wasn't helpful at all to the debate...I just wanted to say something because i think about it every day.

    Many great songs, a lot of poetry and some wonderful books were created because of use, misuse or dependancy on opiates. What these do is to explain in some small way why people take to it. Sadly drug dependancy is not glamourous. It is one of the most selfish awful things that destroys people and relationships.

    My two pennyworth is that if heroin is given and used in a contained environment it may stop the spread of abuse. It may allow addicts to use clean needles, unadulterated drugs and predictable and regulated doses.
