does it really matter? netherless I like the whole setting up of the fashion/portrait shoot, what I dislike is the time spend on photoshop trying to 'correct' the photos.
I find it a tad annoying that nowadays clients are a lots more impatient and does not give me enough time to set up the studio perfectly, sort out the stray hair and make up, prop, lighting etc. (especially if you only have half a day to do that rather than a full 9am-6pm studio hire) before taking the photos, because of that I realise I end up spending more time on Photoshop just to correct issue that should've been fixed in the studio.
Ah well, gotta go with the flow eh?
The shot above was set up in 10 minutes, and we got that shot after 10 minutes of poses/composition changes.
I think with any shot planning is key, we had our lighting schemes, locations and style of the shoot planned out 10 days in advance, and obviously having all the right indgredients like a good make-up artist and stylist help, and a model who is easy to work with, those things are the hardest things to correct if they're not right!
But like you Ed I still have to do the usual stray hair corrections, a bit of airbrushing to the skin etc (although haven't touched this shot yet in terms of post production), thats just how things are these days.
If you are really losing sleep over an extra 5-6 minute spent removing stray hairs off of a studio background you need to lighten up a little Ed, those things don't change whether you're Ed Scoble or Annie Leibovitz...although Annie no doubt has people that do all that for her.....bloody a-list snappers!
