At HH you can keep both your cogs on as far as I know - it's just indoor tracks that worry about you scratching their pretty varnish if you have your cog on the other side.
Rob uses special measurements for his gear inches so he might work out your ratio to be different to what you think. For a first time 90+ will probably feel too high, so maybe go with your lower ratio.
