  • I completely forget that you live in North London! the hill can be a bitch there.

  • Hahaha! Chill Robston! And Ed, the hill's arent too bad. When you gonna make your North Drinks debut??

  • What? all the way from Sarf Wimbledon??

actually it's not that far at 11 miles having thought about it.

  • I thought you were in town! So anyway . . . HTFU!

  • your gearing is not up to Ed's standards Duncan.
    you should be ashamed.

Ed's attack on everyones gear preference continues.....

    Though[t].

Haha, I've wanted to correct this mistake every time I've seen it. I've had to exercise extreme discipline to keep my tongue bitten!

  • Building wheels at present, and will polish the stem.

Shitty phone pic, will get a better one when I can be arsed

  • It aint pretty, but I've got a carbon mudguard that I can put on/take off in about 20 seconds. Held in place with a tight fit and an old light bracket.
Angle of shot makes the bike look weeird

  • looks pretty neat, a slight bend would improve it IMO.

  • WTF is going on . . . I've just been asked if I wanted to sell the cranks that I got this morning!

Oh this place makes me laugh sometimes. Only sometimes though(t)

  • :)

  • it was Murtle...

  • Yes, I just worked that out!

    You funny cnut!

  • who?? me??

  • Actually . . . No! ;)

  • ^ man i want massive chaninring on front, makes sense anyways, track debut in Oct ;)

  • You coming all the way back to ride Herne Hill dude??

  • I've just bought a classic 1970's racer with all original parts.. I'm looking for some 26 x 1 1/4 inc 597 tires (with original bronze/yellow stripe) as the tires on it are quite a bit worn. Does anyone know if 26 inc wheels are still made or where I can get some old ones?

  • Wow. How many times have you posted that on the forum?

Have you tried Google? Or the forum search function?

  • Here's the Peugeot I bought from BleakReference some months ago.

It's had very little spent on it - mainly parts that I already had bar the c/ring and sprocket and tyres.

The seatpost (24.0mm) proved impossible to find apart from the one on ebay that went for about £50! So... I made one out of an old handlebar and then put an old-style saddle clamp on top of it and it works pretty well.

Just waiting on a brake cable now and then I'm sorted. I think it looks quite tidy and it actually rides nicely, a lot more responsive than I thought!

  • Dude, I'd add another chain link if I were you.

    And some foot retention.

  • Some sort of foot retention would be good, maybe put a half link in the chain too.

    Hmmm..?! hahaha

  • crappy phone pic. Its a bike that my mate abandoned, when the rear axle snapped. so i thought I would convert it into a beater. Its pretty heavy (certainly aint no 531) but it rolled pretty nice at the time.

the plan is spent very little money on it (i.e. no money) trades are allowed, or money made from sales, but no raw investment on my part is allowed. I will probably need to shell for a new BB but ultimately i want a bike where the lock is more expensive than the bike (obviously i want it to run well though). just so i can lock it up if i go out somewhere and completely not stress about it.

plan to mkae it into a fixy/ss/both.

oh yeh, naturally i want it to look like crap.

    :)

naturally yes, but if you're starting out, I find it easier to learn riding fixed wheel without them (but with brakes of course) before putting on the strap.
