Last season, no doubt about it, NASCAR was better to watch than F1, it's a very interesting sport from an engineering perspective too, with the track changing so much throught the course of the race (much more so than F1 tracks), plus, if you're afraid of having people know you like watching cars race in circles, there's always the road courses too.
I think the stigma attached to NASCAR definitely puts people off giving it a chance.
Well, that and the typical NASCAR fan =P
