That teaches you for working on a Sunday!
Sounds like a BB issue. Is it a sealed/cartidge BB or not?

hover over a word with dots underneath, you will get a tooltip telling you what the geeky abbreviation is. OTP stands for Off The Peg.

ha ha.....amazing.....so...OTP as in new?
If it helps, the crank itself is Dura-Ace......i guess its 7200 series as the rest of the group set was. the frame is a 853 graham weigh.
I'm sorry for my lack knowledge....i'm slowly piecing together my knowledge.

I'd put money on the pop being the death of a ball bearing, time to strip the BB or replace if it's a cartridge.

will be fine to ride on in an emergency - but you'll shag the bearing surfaces. I reccomend strip and service and inspection asap - you will probably have to replace more than the balls themselves

Fiver? I have a BB tool you can use too.
Hi,
i was on my way into work today and all of sudden my crank made a popping/cracking sound and now its gone stiff.
Is it a fatality or just a case of replacing bearings etc?
I love it when this stuff happens.
