Good point. Yes, that comes up all the time in a similarly unacceptable way, too. I'd get emotional, too, if stuff like that happened to me, but I think in cases like Parris and Martin, what strikes people is how emotionally needy that violence is, and how seemingly uncaused. And unless he's making it up, in Martin's case it has been actual violence.
