I don't think James 'bowled into' a one way street, did he?
I think it is safe to contend that James bowls along at whatever speed he cycles. ;P

Well, an annoying occasion--what caused the problem here was not her contraflow cycling along this narrow street with heavy pedestrian footfall, but that she wasn't looking.
The A10 Curtain Road is a sad casualty of a compromise when most of the Shoreditch Triangle was returned to two-way operation in 2002/3. Hackney Cyclists succeeded, together with other local groups, such as Triangle Traders, in returning most of it to full two-way operation, except for the southern part of Shoreditch High Street and Curtain Road. (I'm not counting the many narrow side streets inside the Triangle.) There were concerns about motor vehicle capacity at the time, which we argued were unfounded (and so it proved), but one-way in Curtain Road and the annoying right turn from Great Eastern Street into Pitfield Street were kept, unfortunately. It will probably be a while before that situation changes.

Did you feel her norks?
No.

my opinion counts for fuck all, but I'll give to you anyway. That bumbling, blonde twat in city hall has been encouraging people to get out on their bikes for ages. Consequently, people have. The same thing happened a few years ago when scooters became popular again and peoplerode them to avoid the parking/c-charge/ever-increasing tube fares etc. There are far more fucking idiots on the road than there used to be. The fact that rather a lot of them seem to congregate towards the east end of this glorious city matters not. The same thing happened with scooters in Notting Hill - now there are more cunts per square mile than anywhere else on the planet.
I think you'll just have to accept that it's the way of the world Crazyjames.

In this type of situation I would rather crash into the cyclist rather than risk killing myself trying to avoid them. Then if any damage was caused to my bike they would be forced to pay for it. If someone makes a mistake then fair enough, everyone makes mistakes. But blatant fuckwittery like this, well they deserve to get mashed up.
I should probably point out that in the situation I would of course try to avoid them, it's basic reflex action innit. But I would regret having made the effort.

Heh... having been taken out by a cyclist last night and getting to spend most of it in A&E... I think unfortuantely the days of being able to cycle fulltilt around london are over for me (probably for the best)... note: I wasn't even going fast, just guy cycled over pedistrian crossing and turned left straight into me on cycle lane!

Ah, hope you're not too badly injured? A&E doesn't sound good. Heal up fast!

Nah I'm alright... just had a weird cresent moon blur in my vision, so thought I'd get it seen to. By the time they did (2+hours later) it had all cleared up!

Yeah I know the score dude, doesn't stop ya getting angry over it when it happens though eh :(

I instantly regretted it, but thinking about the consequences... if I would have hit her she could have come off REALLY bad, i'm a pretty big guy and I was travelling at a reasonable pace, the last thing I would want to do is put someone in hospital even if it was their fault.
Hopefully the 5 minutes worth of verbal abuse delivered right after it happened will be enough to make her think about being less of a retard next time she gets on her bike, and hopefully be more road aware.Nah I'm alright... just had a weird cresent moon blur in my vision, so thought I'd get it seen to. Great to hear you're ok man, hope its nothing major and you heal up soon :)

24" cruiser that you can't sit down on? I have no experience in this area but that doesn't sound like cruising...
clearly.
-
• #142
i mean, why is it called cruiser if you can't 'cruise'?
genuine question
Thats just a word, but compared to a BMX with 20" wheels, it's certainly a cruiser in the sense you're thinking. It's just a class of bike. 24" wheels. primarily for racing on a dirt track with 10 other dudes. Berms, doubles, tables, that kind of track.``

I suppose you could do the same with a bike.

• #147
Kevin Porter does it in one of the fly bmx vids if I remember rightly.
