  • ...tried to take me out this morning.

He first passed me at the North end of Great Portland street at around 10.30am, I'm idling up to a queue of cars stationary at red lights and he screeches past, pulling tight in to the left curb causing me to brake and blocking my progress up to the lights. Did it again at the next junction, basically sitting right on the bumper of the car in front, revving and driving super-aggressively... After he wheel-spins away a second time, I make a hand gesture I consider appropriate to his driving style (he's about 100 yards away at this point), which he must have seen in his mirror, he again slams on the brakes and sits revving in the middle of the road waiting for me to catch up, I cycle up slowly thinking 'here we go' and half expecting him to jump out, so I start to cycle around his car on the right hand side and he turns and forces me into a parked Merc. I'm not hurt, just a slo-mo clipped in sprawl across the Merc's windscreen, a bit shaken up... Merc & bike both fine too, but could have been a lot worse.

Managed to get the registration No., and a very nice chap (said he was also a cyclist) ran over and said he'd seen the whole incident and gave me his number.

Have called the police but apparently I have to go into the station to report the incident. They also suggest calling NHS and informing them of their driver's behaviour, (only number I can find is NHS direct... anyone have any ideas?)

Anyway, small white van, NHS logo on the side (ironic eh?) the type they use to ferry bloods/pharmaceuticals etc. about between hospitals... I'm imagining it was coming from UCH as there are quite a lot of those type of vehicles in that area.

Registration Number: RX55 KWH (hope that's correct, my hands were shaking a bit)
Driver late 40's/50's grey hair & beard.

Fellow-cyclist at work said, 'you're OK, I think it's one of those incidents you just have to let go'... but I'm tempted to pursue a complaint just because I can imagine this arsehole doing it again, the cyclist may not be so lucky next time.

Excuse the long post... needed to vent!
