And how well did Hamilton do when they were in the same team together?
Just on that note, where everybody says that Hamilton was miles better than Alonso.
The team favoured Hamilton, partially because he was brought up in the racing world by McLaren, partially because Alonso expected No.1 status and there was a fair few toys chucked out of his pram when he found that wasn't the case. Also, the two have very different preferences when it comes to how to drive their cars, Hamilton prefers a car that oversteers quite a bit and has a pretty loose rear end (as he demonstrates everytime he slides through a corner =P) whereas Alonso is the opposite, preferring a car that's easy on the tyres and tends to understeer more. The McLaren was definitely more suited to Hamilton's style, it was always pretty loose which, especially when compared to the Ferrari, the McLaren could light up it's tyres very quickly which meant it was always great in quali but sometimes struggled to manage it's tyres near the end of the race, whereas Ferrari were the opposite, always struggling to get heat into the tyres quickly as it was always very easy on them, meaning they didn't heat up quickly enough to get a decent position in quali, but were much better prepared for the race. Also one last note about the Hamilton v Alonso thing, remember that they finished the season on the same amount of points, so it's not like Hamilton walked all over Alonso =P
P.S. Apologies for the lengthy post, blame Oliver ;)
